Water Release from Hirakud Continues

SAMBALPUR: Water level at Hirakud Dam Reservoir (HDR) stood at 610.39 feet on Friday evening even as water is being released through seven gates of the dam.

The Full Reservoir Level (FRL) of the reservoir is 630 feet. As on 6 pm, the inflow into the reservoir was 75,365 cusecs and the outflow was 1,27,524 cusecs. This includes release of 4216 cusecs of water into Bargarh main canal, 450 cusecs into Sason canal, 44 cusecs into Sambalpur distributary and 7 cusecs into Hirakud Canal. The rainfall in the upstream in the last 24 hours has been recorded at 0.25 mm while 7.74 mm of rainfall has been registered in the downstream.

On July 13, the rain water received by the dam reservoir from the upstream was released for the first time during the current monsoon through seven sluice gates of the dam.
