Lady Teacher Stabbed

A lady music teacher of Khaparpada High School in Dhamnagar block sustained serious injuries after she was stabbed by a youth.

BHADRAK:A lady music teacher of Khaparpada High School under Dhusuri police limits in Dhamnagar block sustained serious injuries after she was stabbed by a youth allegedly over failed love affair.

The teacher, Diptimayi Panda (25), was on her way to school when the accused Manas Panigrahi (27) of Gohirapatana village attacked her with a knife injuring her right hand. Sources said Panigrahi had proposed Panda and on her refusal, he attacked her.

After stabbing the teacher, Panigrahi climbed atop an electric pole to commit suicide but survived as there was no power supply. Irate locals caught hold of Panigrahi and beat him up, injuring him severely.

Panigrahi, who was rescued by Dhusuri police from the clutches of locals, was first admitted to District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.

Meanwhile, the teacher who was admitted to district hospital has been discharged and is out of danger.
