BARGAON (SUNDARGARH):A person was shot dead by miscreants in Bargaon of Sundargarh district late on Monday night. The deceased is Anjan Das alias Rintu (37). The incident came within 13 hours of a firing case at Gopapur under Hathibari police limits.

According to reports, five miscreants arrived on two motorcycles and after parking their vehicles beside the State Highway-10, they walked towards the house of Das at Bargaonbasti.

At around 12.30 am when Rintu came out of his house, the miscreants fired at him from a close range killing him on the spot. Hearing the gun shots, Rintu’s wife rushed outside only to find him in a pool of blood. The miscreants had fled by then.

Police said Rintu previously had criminal antecedents, but was leading a normal life since a couple of years. A scientific team visited the spot on Tuesday.

Sundargarh Additional SP Pramod Patel said police have got vital clues and the assailants would be arrested soon.

On Monday, two motorcycle-borne miscreants had shot dead an elderly man, Sitaram Sahu (70), in the district. The miscreants fired two rounds at Sahu, who later died at the Ispat General Hospital here. The incident took place near Gopapur, about 40 km from Rourkela, in Nuagaon block of Sundargarh district.

In a similar incident five weeks back, another old man of Gopapur village, Milkush Kandulna, was shot at by two motorcycle-borne miscreants, but Kandulna survived the firing.
