BHUBANESWAR: The National Aluminium Company (Nalco) has lodged a complaint against a City-based private hospital group for allegedly raising an inflated bill against the surgery conducted on the wife of an employee.

An FIR has been lodged against Apollo Hospitals by the Manager (Administration) of Nalco Hospitals, Angul at Sahid Nagar police station in this connection.

Mini Das, the patient, was admitted to the hospital from April 19 to 23 for an angioplasty procedure. Apollo Hospitals is an empanelled hospital of the Nav Ratna company.

According to the FIR, the hospital authorities raised a bill of `5.86 lakh and sent it to Nalco for reimbursement. However, during an internal committee which approves the medical bills, the details were analysed and it was found that a medical equipment, used for the surgery, was procured from Kolkata-based Vista Enterprises Ltd.

Nalco apparently contacted the Kolkata-based firm and found out that no such equipment was reportedly purchased from it.

Contacted, the Apollo Hospitals management could not throw any light on the matter. Senior General Manager (Operations) BK Subodh Singh told this paper that he was not aware of the matter.
