BHUBANESWAR:A two-member police team which quizzed Chitra Athwani for her links with Deccan Chronicle vice chairman PK Iyer has found that the former air hostess was in a relationship with the latter. The team which went to Delhi interrogated Athwani to ascertain if she had any knowledge of Iyer’s involvement in the financial scam which is being probed by CBI. She, however, said she was unaware of any such bunglings. Athwani told the police that she and Iyer had marriage plans.
Since the duo was to tie the nuptial knot, she had booked the room at Hotel Trident at Bhubaneswar in her name on February 14 where they stayed for 10 days.
After Athwani left, Iyer continued to stay there in the same name. He was arrested by City Police in June. Police is now examining is the provisions of the Serai Act can be invoked in the case.
