BALASORE: The District and Sessions Judge of Balasore on Friday rejected the petition filed by Rajashree Mohanty seeking exclusion of domestic violence charges from the complaint of his wife Barsa Swony Choudhury.
Last year, Barsa had filed a case under Domestic Violence Act in the court here. She had also filed a maintenance suit in the Family Court against her husband demanding `60,000 per month to meet her study and other expenses. Rajashree had appealed before the court against the case seeking a direction to exclude the domestic violence charges.
On March 14, 2013, Barsa had accused her husband Rajashree, father-in-law and former minister Raghunath Mohanty, mother-in-law Pritilata Mohanty, sister-in-law Rupashree Madhual and brother-in-law Suvendu Madhual of torturing her physically and mentally for dowry.
