Lion Cub Dies in Nandankanan Zoo

One of the two cubs, born to lioness Radha in Nandankanan Zoological Park here two days back, died.

BHUBANESWAR: One of the two cubs, born to lioness Radha in Nandankanan Zoological Park here two days back, died on Saturday morning.

The other one, though, is healthy and under care of the mother, the zoo sources said.

However, the first litter of felines are always vulnerable and their mortality rate is generally high.

After a gap of 11 years, lion cubs were born in the Zoological Park following a successful mating of Radha with Krish.

Director Sudarsan Panda visited the zoo and took stock of the reason behind the cub’s death.

He also reviewed the health measures of the other surviving cub.
