12 Minors Rescued in Gajapati

BERHAMPUR:  At least 12 minors, including eight girls, of different villages of Gajapati district were rescued by Mohana police from Chandragiri on Wednesday.

IIC of Mohana police station, Prasant Bhupati, said on seeing a few girls roaming aimlessly in the area, cops questioned them. The girls informed that they were being taken to Kerala and Tamil Nadu for better education.

The girls also informed that they along with four boys and three elders were staying in a house in Chandragiri since Tuesday, following which, police raided the spot. The four minor boys told police that they were being taken to Tamil Nadu to work in factories by one John Majhi. Police nabbed John from the house and during interrogation, he admitted to have planned to engage all the minor children in factories in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Police also arrested two middlemen, B Sarmila of Tamil Nadu and Bindia Ghosal of Sundargarh, from the house.
