Money, Jewellery Looted from City Bus-owner's House

BHUBANESWAR: Armed burglars barged into a house at Bhagabanpur in Tamando on Monday and decamped with Rs 1 lakh and jewellery worth nearly Rs 6 lakh.

The house belongs to a bus-owner Pritam Kumar Jena.

According to the police, a group of five  to six persons broke into the house around midnight. They were armed with lethal weapons.

The burglars apparently spent a lot of time in searching and looting things, police said.

”It appears that the burglars unlocked the front gate and entered the house at  midnight and checked every room,” the official added.

About Rs 1 lakh cash, 150 grams of gold ornaments and one kilogram of silver filigree were stolen, it was stated in the complaint. The burglars also took away five mobile phones and other valuables.

Police suspect it to be the handiwork of a group from a neighbouring district. Migrant labourers, who camp in the locality, are being interrogated, said sources.
