RAYAGADA: Neeladri Nag, a woman belonging to Rengalpadu village under Kolnara block of Rayagada district, has accused the local Tehsildar and BDO of forcing her for religious conversion.
She submitted a written complaint against the two officers at the grievance cell of the Collector here on Monday. In her petition, Neeladri alleged that she had approached Tehsildar Bernadett Lakra and BDO Shanti Prava Pradhan to help her avail Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) fund for constructing a house. But they asked her to get converted into another religion in order to avail the benefits of Government schemes.
Rayagada Collector Jagannath Mohanty has directed Sub-Collector Murali Dhar Swain to inquire into the allegation and take appropriate measures. While Lakra was not available for comment, Pradhan said she did not know anyone by the name of Neeladri Nag. “It is a conspiracy against me,” the BDO added.
