Man Pushes Pregnant Wife out of Train

A man pushed his pregnant wife out of a moving train near Rauli railway station resulting in the death of the baby.

RAYAGADA: In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly pushed his pregnant wife out of a moving train near Rauli railway station in the district resulting in death of the baby on Tuesday.

The woman was rescued by a gangman who informed Tikiri railway station master. The profusely bleeding woman and the baby, which was delivered after her fall from the train, were taken to a hospital in Rayagada where doctors declared the baby dead.

The woman, who was in semi-conscious state, identified herself as Sarojini Kereketta (22) from Rourkela. Recently, she had gone to her aunt’s house at Koraput with her husband Saroj Kerketta.

They boarded Koraput-Rourkela Inter-City Express on Monday night. While the train was crossing a tunnel, they were standing near the door. Suddenly, Saroj pushed Sarojini out of the running train. The GRP has launched a manhunt to nab Saroj, said DSP UN Singh. Sarojini is battling for life, said hospital sources.
