DHENKANAL: A 13-year-old boy Anshuman Samal was killed and his body cut into pieces by one Susanta Samal in Gadapalasuni village under Parjang police limits on Wednesday. The accused surrendered at the Mahavir Road police outpost after the incident. The boy was a relative of the accused.
Police said Susanta killed the boy while he was returning after plucking flowers from a tree near his house. While some locals said land dispute between Anshuman’s father and Susanta was the reason behind the killing, others claimed that the accused sacrificed the boy to appease the presiding deity of the village. Parjang police said they are investigating into both the angles.
