BHUBANESWAR: Following up its efforts to give domestic enterprises a much needed marketing push, the State MSME Department on Wednesday launched Odi-Tech, a common brand for local industrial and non-food products.
Odi-Tech will initially roll out agricultural and farm implements like threshers, winnowers, weeders, ploughs, cultivators and tractor trolleys, and will gradually go on to include a wider variety of industrial products.
The brand will be marketed by Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC). This is the second brand to be launched after Odi-Food that was rolled out by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Jaunary this year.
Launching the brand, MSME Minister Jogendra Behera said the products manufactured by local small enterprises are of high quality but are languishing due to lack of proper marketing exposure. A common brand promoted by a Government organisation will not only provide them the much needed platform but also lend them credibility and quality assurance. The agricultural implements and machinery included in the brand meet top quality standards and manufactured as per design and specifications of Directorate of Agricultural and Food Production, Odisha.
The OSIC is set to expand the product portfolio and is discussing with industrial associations as well as manufacturers. In the immediate future, Odi-Tech is set to encompass paints and industrial dyes manufactured by local enterprises. It has also planned to bring in cashew, turmeric powder, chili powder, rice and other organic produce of tribals in KBK districts, which are in demand in National and international markets.
The Corporation will organise these sectors and promote them through its brand. Many other technical items as well as food items shall be included gradually for marketing under Odi-Tech and Odi-Food series respectively.
Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati and MSME Secretary Panchanan Dash were present among others.
