BHUBANESWAR: Even as a disgraced Motilal Gouda remains elusive, the State Vigilance is all set to probe into his corrupt practices as assistant director (medical) with Department of Labour and Employees State Insurance (ESI).

The anti-corruption wing on Tuesday received a formal requisition from the Labour and ESI Department for inquiry into Gouda's activities.

Gouda is accused of issuing a fake order basing on a gazette notification which he had allegedly fabricated. Basing on the order, he had engaged five private labs for pre-employment health check-up of factories and industries.

DG Vigilance Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma confirmed receiving the letter on Tuesday and said the Vigilance will probe into the undue favour that Gouda had shown to certain firms and his corrupt practices. Those who had connived with him will also come under scanner, he added.

A 2007 batch MMBS, Gouda has become untraceable ever since the Orissa High Court rejected his anticipatory bail application on June 24. A team of the Crime Branch's Economic Offences Wing, which is probing into the case, went to Delhi on his trail. It has returned to Bhubaneswar as the suspended medical officer could not be traced.

Gouda's proximity with a young Minister of the Naveen Patnaik Government and three MLAs has drawn serious criticism from the Opposition as he is accused of getting political protection.
