BHUBANESWAR: Congress Corporator of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and brother of Bhuan, an associate of gangsters Dhal Samanta siblings, Dharmananda Patra on Friday resigned from the primary membership of the party citing personal reasons.
Pramod Patra alias Bhuan was arrested by the Commissionerate of Police for his alleged links with the Dhal Samanta brothers.
Patra is the Corporator of Ward 37 which spans Sankarpur area of Cuttack. In a letter to AICC president and Pradesh Congress president, Patra said he was resigning due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’.
Talking to this paper, Patra said he had no plan to join any other political party and this move may be considered as his retirement from politics.
Soon after the news spread, hordes of Congress party officials reached the house of Patra who is currently serving his third term in the CMC.
