Training Camp on Odisha Community Policing

BHUBANESWAR:  A one-day training programme was organised for officers associated with Odisha Community Policing Scheme ‘Ama Police’ at Biju Patnaik State Police Academy here on Wednesday.

Inaugurating the programme, DGP KB Singh expressed satisfaction over the scheme which has been extended to 504 Police Stations in the State.

Singh advised the participating officers to promptly address suggestions and grievances made by members of ‘Ama Police Samiti’ in the monthly meetings.

He also stressed that ‘Reception Centres’ and ‘Mahila and Sishu Desks’ should be made functional at each police station to complement the objectives of community policing.

The training covered issues like concepts and best practices of community policing at national and international levels, Kerala Police Community Policing Scheme - ‘Janamaitri’ and effective communication.

Similar training modules will be conducted in this calendar year to include all officers associated with implementation of community policing. As many as 160 officers from across the State attended the training programme.

Among others, Nodal officer for community policing and Additional DGP Satyajit Mohanty, ADGP, Training SM Narvane and senior police officers were present.
