Work on Agriculture Park Begins

ROURKELA:  Construction work for erection of boundary walls of Sundargarh-II Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) or Agriculture Technology Park started on Thursday in the presence of the police.

A day before, a section of tribal protestors, led by Birmitrapur MLA George Tirkey, had stalled works.

Protestors, owing allegiance to Sundargarh Zilla Adivasi Mulwasi Bachao Manch (SZAMBM), had on Wednesday forced their way to the project site near Rourkela airport, defying prohibitory orders.

On Thursday, about 40 tribal women reached the spot and demanded to stop work, but police turned them away.

Rourkela ADM K Sudershan Chakravorty said the administration is open to talks with the agitators and asserted works on the Agriculture Technology Park would continue.
