Canadian Detained

PURI: Ramchandi Marine police on Friday detained a  foreign national of Indian origin for creating disturbance in a school at Puri-Konark Marine Drive road. Khalsa Gurudayal Singh (21), a Canadian national, went to Beladal Nodal Upper Primary School and wanted to teach students.

When the headmaster refused to entertain him, Singh sat on the verandah of the school and started playing music on his laptop.

When some villagers approached him, he threw his laptop and camera stand and started running. The villagers then informed the police, who detained him.

It is learnt that Singh is on a tourist visa and had no passport. Ramchandi Police is trying to contact the embassy to verify the details.
