Stamp Paper Shortage Hits Land Transactions

Non-availability of stamp papers at Jeypore sub-treasury office for the last one month has affected land transactions.

JEYPORE:  Non-availability of stamp papers at Jeypore sub-treasury office for the last one month has affected land transactions.

The stamp vendors of District Registrar Office, Jeypore are now depending on Nabarangpur and Malkangiri treasury offices to get the papers.

Sources said the Jeypore sub-treasury office, which procures stamp papers of different denominations from Koraput District Treasury Office, has reportedly  failed to collect the same in the last month.

Adequate stamp papers on a par with land valuation are not available in Jeypore. As a result, land transactions have been delayed causing revenue loss to the State Government. Only a few stamp papers of low denominations are available in the office.

The stamp vendors, advocates and people of the area have demanded the Collector’s intervention in the matter.
