Mystery Shrouds TV Actor's Death

BALASORE: Mystery shrouds the death of choreographer- turned-television serial actor Ranjit Pattnaik alias Raja, who died in an accident along National Highway-5 near Jamujhadi in Balasore district on Sunday.

Sources said Raja, along with his two friends Pralay and actress Jessy, had gone to perform in an opera show at Basudevpur in Bhadrak district on Sunday night.

Though Jessy’s co-actor in a TV serial, Tushar, was supposed to attend the event, he could not join. The opera party officials expressed displeasure over it and blamed Raja.

Pralay told mediapersons that Raja had an heated argument with Jessy over the matter and later got down from the car to attend nature’s call and minutes later the car driver heard a scream under a bridge nearby. Raja was rushed to Bhadrak district headquarters hospital where his broken hands were plastered. Later, Raja was shifted to SCB Medical at Cuttack as his condition deteriorated. He was declared brought dead at SCB Medical.

His uncle Amiya Pattnaik said, when he reached SCB Medical after receiving information, none was there near the body. “His co-passengers in the car were also absent. We demand proper inquiry,” he demanded.
