SALEPUR: Nearly 12 members of a family were injured when a group of locals attacked them in Badapada village of Badasamantarapur panchayat under Choudwar police limits on Saturday.
Sources said the attack was the fallout of a longstanding dispute between the supporters of Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain and Cuttack Zilla Parishad president Prasant Behera.
On Saturday, Swain’s supporter Abhaya Barik and his eight associates entered the house of Biparna Parida, a supporter of Prasant Behera, and attacked the members with hockey sticks and other weapons.
The injured were admitted to Tangi Community Health Centre.
Acting on an FIR filed by both sides, Choudwar police registered two separate cases.
