Removal of OPCC Chief Demanded

BHUBANESWAR: Factionalism in the State Congress has come to the fore again with a senior leader demanding removal of president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Prasad Harichandan from his post for the party’s miserable performance in elections to 11 urban local bodies (ULBs).

The senior leader, who has written a letter to party vice-president Rahul Gandhi in this regard, has not been identified. He, however, claims to be an AICC member and former minister.

Harichandan, who met the AICC vice-president at New Delhi on Saturday did not react to the development. The anonymous leader has marked a copy of the letter to all Congress Working Committee (CWC) members, AICC general secretary BK Hariprasad and AICC secretary Subhonkar Sarkar.

OPCC spokesperson Sarat Rout, however, said those who want to give their opinion should come to the open and should not remain anonymous.
