Jeypore Municipality Steps to Redress Grievances

JEYPORE: Jeypore Municipality had introduced a new system to address public grievances directly by the Executive Officer considering the large number of  complaints being received from the people.

According to official sources, the municipality had been grappling under acute shortage of staff for a long time and hundreds of complaints related to basic amenities, health and employment were getting piled up. Recently, the district administration had given additional  charge to Jeypore Sub-collector Madhusmita Sahu as Executive Officer of the municipality to run the day-to-day affairs.

However, it was not possible for the Sub-collector to meet the people directly over their complaints everyday during office hours due to work pressure.

It was then decided to introduce the system of complaints box at the office. Accordingly, two complaint boxes, one for general complaints and another for corruption issues, have been put up in the office.

The public have been asked to give their complaints through the boxes. Moreover, the flow of public complaints through the boxes are being looked into by  the Executive Officer.
