Two Youths Shot at in Bhubaneshwar

BHUBANESWAR:  An incident of firing left two youths injured at Press Colony under Kharvela Nagar police limits here on Sunday evening.

The injured persons, identified as Kamalakanta Mohanty alias Tutan and Madhusudhan Nayak alias Muna, have been admitted to a private hospital in the City. Police have identified the accused Manoj and Pintu of Shantipalli slum near Sriya Talkies and launched a manhunt to nab the duo.

The incident, sources said, is an outcome of previous enmity. Manoj and Pintu, having criminal antecedents, had attacked Tutan and Muna on two occasions in the recent past following which the latter had lodged a complaint with Kharvela Nagar police.

The accused had recently come out on bail and nursed a grudge against Manoj and Pintu. At around 9 pm, when Tutan, a meat shop owner, was winding up the day’s work, Manoj and Pintu came on a motorcycle and opened fire at him. Muna, who was present in the vicinity, rushed to Tutan’s rescue, and sustained bullet injuries on his leg.

Statements of the victims have been recorded and a case under Section 307 of the IPC has been registered at Kharvela Nagar police station.
