Mild Tremor Creates Panic in South Odisha

BERHAMPUR: Panic gripped the people of Ganjam and Gajapati districts after a tremor was felt around 10.30 pm on Monday. The tremor, which was felt for around four seconds, was reported from Soroda, Belaguntha and Bhanjanagar of Ganjam district, Mohona in Gajapati and G Udayagiri, Daringibadi and Raikia in Kandhamal district. No loss of life or property was reported.

As per the India Metrological Department (IMD) release, a micro-earthquake was recorded at 10.23 pm IST at Seismological observatories in Rayagada and Jharsuguda but was very faint in Bhubaneswar observatory.

 Due to non-availability of data at three stations the epicentre could not be determined accurately. Moreover, the tremor was very low magnitude in nature.
