Chhau Nata Parab from Feb 26

BHUBANESWAR: Marking a fascinating assemblage of the tribal martial dance form, Chhau Nata Parab 2016 is all set to kick off at Rairangpur from February 26.

Organised by Aangika jointly with SNA Project and supported by Sangeet Natak Akademi, the three-day festival will see troupes from various parts of the country presenting Chhau in its various styles - Mayurbhanj, Seraikela and Purulia.

Day one will see 'War Dance' and 'Banabasi' presented in Mayurbhanj style, 'Mayura', 'Durga Mahisasura', 'Meghdoot' in Seraikela style apart from Bihu by Assam Cultural Akademi, Guwahati.

On the second day, 'Chakravyuha', 'Natraj', and 'Kirat-Arjun' will be presented in Mayurbhanj style of Chhau while various other performances in Seraikela style and Purulia style will be presented.

Altaf Maksudbhai Sidi and Group of Gujarat will present Siddhi Dhamal on the day too.

The last day will see 'Chandrabhaga', 'Matira Manisha', 'Ratri', 'Radha Krushna', 'Barsha Jhim Jham', 'Phoola Basanta',, 'Hansha' and 'Nabika' in Seraikela form while the festival will close with the presentation of 'Dandi Mahabharata' in Mayurbhanj style of Chhau.
