BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK:In the ongoing crackdown on criminal nexus of the Dhal Samanta brothers, the Commissionerate of Police on Friday arrested a tender fixer named Sudhir Choudhury from Cuttack.
Choudhury had hectored a petty contractor who was engaged in an urban development project taken up by JICA in Cuttack to relinquish the contract in favour of Dhal Samanta brothers.
He also forced Tantia Constructions, the primary lessee of the project, to transfer the contract of raw material supply to the Dhal Samantas, Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora said.
Tantia constructions had paid around Rs 7 crore to Sushil and Sushant Dhal Samanta in different phases towards the sub-contract work the latter took up. Sudhir is likely to be taken on custodial remand within a few days, sources said.
