BHAWANIPATNA: IN a bid to prevent rising road accidents in Kalahandi district, a Road Safety Action Plan meeting was held here on Friday.

Violation of traffic rules, lack of awareness and safety measures, erratic traffic control and bad road conditions have been attributed to frequent road accidents on National and State Highways.

Accident-prone spots on NH 26 were identified with suggestions to erect traffic signal boards and seven speed limit boards and to deploy traffic police and movable barricades.

As per reports, Kalahandi has recorded maximum number of casualties in the State in the last one year.

Collector Brundha DRDA Project Director Binit Bharadwaj, RTO Dinabandhu Sundhi and members of District Road Safety Committee attended the meeting.
