MALKANGIRI:At least 59 Maoist supporters, including three militia and three village committee members, on Wednesday surrendered at Mundaguda police outpost in Kiang of the district.

Villagers of Katepalli under Mathili police limits, the rebels and their supporters arrived en masse at Kiang and surrendered before IIC Pramod Kumar Mallick and 202 COBRA battalion officials.

The surrendered militia members have been identified as Surya Bhumia, Trinnath Bhumia and Mangada Padiami. The trio village committee members are Mani Kunjami, Chanchai Bhumia and Rama Bhumia, the IIC said. The Maoist supporters, who surrendered on Wednesday, include 36 men and 23 women, Mallick said.
