BERHAMPUR: In a shocking incident, two truckers beat up a traffic constable BB Gouda in broad daylight on Wednesday, hardly 100 metres from Gosaninuagaon police station in the city.
The drivers continued to hit Gouda for more 30 minutes resulting in severe head injuries. Gouda was rushed to City Hospital, where doctors have kept him under observation after stitching up his injuries.
Police nabbed the two truckers Santosh Gouda and Ganeswar Sahu.

Sources said, Gouda was deployed at Andhapasara Chowk where he allegedly detained a truck and demanded mamul (extortion). The truckers claimed that when they denied to pay, the constable attacked them. In retaliation the truckers beat him up. Investigation is on to ascertain the reasons behind the attack.
The locals, who had gathered at the spot, remained mute spectators to the goondaism, while some even engaged in recording the scene on their mobile phones.
