BARBIL:Nearly 11 days after a woman went missing, her decomposed body was found on the outskirts of the village by her son after a frantic search.

The woman, Parbati Munda (42) of Kasia village under Bamebari police limits in Keonjhar district, was allegedly strangulated to death by two villagers on suspicion of practising sorcery.

The accused, Rajesh Munda (30) and Bamiya Munda (20), were engaged by Parbati as farm workers. As Parbati was unable to pay their wages, the duo stole a hen from her house. Enraged, Parbati cursed them. Suspecting Parbati of practising sorcery, Rajesh and Bamiya barged into her house on August 18 midnight and strangulated her while she was asleep.

Parbati’s son Gobinda, who returned to the village the next day, found her missing.  After a search for nearly 11 days, Gobinda found his mother’s  decomposed body on Baitarani river bank on the outskirts of the village on August 30. He informed the police, who swung into action and nabbed Rajesh and Bamiya.

On Monday, police produced them in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Barbil.
