Student ends life over failed love affair

CUTTACK: A third year Yoga student in Sri Sri University at Naraj committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan inside her hostel room on Tuesday morning. The deceased student was identified as Samashree Dey of Murshidabad in Medinipur district of West Bengal.

Sources said, finding Dey absent from Yoga class in the morning, her classmates went to the hostel to enquire about her. However, they found Dey hanging from the ceiling fan inside her room.

On being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered a suicide note written in Bengali from Dey's room. Preliminary investigation reveals that Dey took the extreme step out of frustration over a failed love affair, said IIC, Baranga police station Sanjay Kumar Patnaik.       

Dey's body was sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
