BHUBANESWAR: The short session of the assembly beginning from September 21 is all set to be stormy with opposition political parties preparing to corner the state government over several issues.
Though the ruling BJD enjoys a brute majority, it will be on the defensive because of several incidents including the case of Dana Majhi who had carry his dead wife on his shoulders for 10 kilometers, death of children at Nagada due to malnutrition and killing of five tribals and dalits at Gumudumaha in police firing.
The issues were discussed at the meeting of the BJP Legislature Party (BJPLP) presided over by BJPLP leader KV Singhdeo today. The BJP will also raise the deteriorating law and order situation, lack of basic health facilities and largescale irregularities in distribution of ration cards for the implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) during the short session.
The demand for bribe by four BJD MLAs to facilitate setting up of industries in their districts will also be raised during the session. Links of ruling BJD leaders with Oscar chitfund company and Motilal Gouda, the labour department official who issued a fake notification, are other issues to corner the ruling BJD.
Largescale vacancies of doctors and teachers and the decision to introduce teacher-on-call scheme by the state government will also come up for discussion.
The meeting of the BJD Legislature Party and Congress Legislature Party will meet on September 20 to discuss strategy for the monsoon session.
