IOCL project affected get aid at special camp

PARADIP: The district administration on Thursday disbursed compensation to affected people of IOCL’s plastic park by organising special camp at Siju village.

Following frequent strikes over the compensation demand by the land losers, the District Compensation Advisory Committee (DCAC) had recommended a revised compensation package for the affected villagers. As per the recommendations of the DCAC, villagers of Rangiagarh, who lost 125 acres of land, would get `62.78 lakh at the rate of `50,000 per acre while those of Siju would get `1.5 crore for 300 acres of land.

Later, Idco had acquired 635 acres of land in Pratapur and Fethpur villages for ancillary industries. For this, land losers of Pratapur would get `12.75 crore at the rate of ` two lakh per acre while Fethpur villagers would get `1.73 crore towards acquisition of 86 acres of land. The land losers of the four villages would get `16.61 crore towards compensation as recommended by the DCAC. Rangiagada Sarpanch Basant Sethy said out of 600 beneficiaries, 200 beneficiaries will receive their revised compensation during the three-day camp.

The effort of administration to disburse revised compensation at village level by organising special camp has brought cheer among the locals, he added.

Collector Yamini Sarangi said compensation amount was disbursed to affected villagers of Siju in the presence of locals, senior district officials and Idco officials on Thursday.
