Roads, lights in remote Malkangiri villages soon

MALKANGIRI:The district planning committee (DPC) approved a plan outlay of `2,698.30 lakh for Malkangiri for the year 2016-17 for implementation of projects under Gopabandhu  Grameen Yojana on Thursday. The DPC meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commerce and Transport Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi. The Minister asked the administration to focus on electricity, road connectivity and water for overall development of rural areas of Malkangiri.  Collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy said roads will come up in 423 villages where there is zero connectivity during 2016-17. Each gram panchayat in the zero connectivity zone has been asked to construct at least 10 roads, Chakravarthy said, adding that priority will also be given to rural electrification.
