Odisha CM distributes NULM funds

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday disbursed revolving funds to 704 self-help groups (SHGs) working in the State.

BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday disbursed revolving funds to 704 self-help groups (SHGs) working in the State. The funds, under National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM), are meant for socio-economic growth of SHGs and development works taken up by them. The women members of SHGs can start a small business by adding their own contributions to it.

In case the beneficiaries plan to expand, they can avail loan at an interest rate of seven per cent. If they are paying the amount in time, three per cent of interest shall be waived. All cities with a population of one lakh or more have been covered under the NULM programme. BPL families in these cities will be covered under the scheme.

Under NULM, five city livelihood centres have been established at Bharatpur, Brahmeswarpatna, Niladri Vihar, Pokhariput and Dumduma in the Capital. Skill training and placement programmes are also being executed to provide employment under NULM.
