BJD objects to BJP warning

The BJD on Saturday took strong exception to the statements from BJP leaders warning poll officials allegedly siding

BHUBANESWAR: The BJD on Saturday took strong exception to the statements from BJP leaders warning poll officials allegedly siding with the ruling party in the panchayat polls that a Commission will be set up investigate the matter.

“The BJP on Saturday threatened to set up a Commission after coming to power in 2019 Assembly elections to probe into allegations of officials siding with the BJD in the panchayat polls,” BJD spokesperson Sashibhusan Behera told mediapersons here.

Criticising the BJP leaders for making such statements even though results of the ZP polls are yet to be announced by the State Election Commission (SEC), Behera said this has exposed their arrogance. People of Odisha will never tolerate such behaviour from the BJP leaders, the BJD leader said, and added that the party is said to have won in only 30 per cent of the seats, that too after getting the Congress votes.

Behera also criticised the BJP for taking the help of chief ministers, MPs, MLAs, senior leaders from the neighbouring states Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand and a number of Union ministers for campaigning. The people of Odisha will give a fitting reply to the BJP in the last two phase polls, he said. BYJD general secretary Bijay Nayak was also present.
