Odisha college student hangs self in hostel

A student of Bhubanananda Orissa School of Engineering committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan inside his hostel room on Sunday night.

CUTTACK: A student of Bhubanananda Orissa School of Engineering committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan inside his hostel room on Sunday night.

The deceased, identified as Paresh Singh (18) of Tanchana within Biridi police limits in Jagatsinghpur, was a third year student of Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

Singh’s roommates spotted his body hanging from the ceiling fan on Monday. On being informed, Mangalabag police rushed to the spot and seized the body. Later, Singh’s body was sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.

Singh is said to have taken the extreme step out of frustration over a failed love affair.

Police registered an unnatural death case and further investigation is on.
