Odisha Opposition leader sees BJD-BJP nexus

Opposition Congress alleged in the Assembly that slowing down of the pace of CBI investigation into the multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha is an indication of a nexus between the BJD and the BJP.

BHUBANESWAR: Opposition Congress on Thursday alleged in the Assembly that slowing down of the pace of CBI investigation into the multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha is an indication of a nexus between the ruling BJD and the BJP.

The allegation was made by Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra while referring to the allegation made by BJP members on Wednesday that both the Congress and BJD have joined hands to disrupt the Assembly proceedings.

Stating that Congress is politically opposed to both the BJP and BJD, Mishra said there are enough incidents which indicated a nexus between BJD and BJP. “Slow pace in CBI investigation into chit fund scam is one of the instances to doubt that both the parties have joined hands,” he said.

The Congress leader said there are allegations of involvement of the Leader of the House (Chief Minister) in the chit fund scam. “If there is no nexus, why has the CBI investigation gone to cold storage? What is the CBI doing in case of several BJD leaders?” he asked.

The Leader of Opposition alleged that BJD and BJP leaders were working together in Balangir district during the panchayat elections. He also strongly criticised the BJP over its allegation that Congress disrupted proceedings of the House to help the ruling BJD.

“We were demanding Government’s statement on the plight of farmers for the interest of the suffering persons,” Mishra said.
