PARADIP: Mobile Swachhata Squad, the brainchild of PPT, is spearheading the fortnight Swachhata Pakhwada programme which has completed one week. PPT is observing the programme under the aegis of Ministry of Shipping and it will continue till March 31.
Deputy Chairman, PPT, N Vaiyapuri said cleaning operations are being conducted by PPT officers and employees, Paradip Shakshyarata Samiti, Paradip Municipality and locals. Among others, secretary, PPT, UR Mohan Raju was present. World Water Day too has been observed by PPT with a message on saving water. The damaged pipelines in the quarters of Madhuban Colony and taps in Nuabazar Colony were repaired. At Balijhara Water Works, weed cleaning was taken up. The current capacity of the reservoir, spread over an area of 175 acres, is 220 million gallons. Deepening activity will be undertaken to hold 375 million gallons. This will ensure water holding for additional 30 days against the existing 50 days.
