Four of family drown

Four members of a family were feared drowned in Jhanjabati river near Majhighariani temple at Rayagada on Tuesday.

RAYAGADA: Four members of a family were feared drowned in Jhanjabati river near Majhighariani temple at Rayagada on Tuesday. The incident took place when they were taking bath in the river and were swept away by the current.

According to police, seven persons from Andhra Pradesh had come to Rayagada to offer puja at Maa Majhighariani temple. After offering puja, four of them went to take bath in the river at about 2 pm. When they did not return by evening, the rest members of the group went in search of them. Unable to trace the missing four persons, they informed the police.Fire personnel launched a search operation in the river and found the four persons in unconscious condition.

They were rushed to DHH where the doctors declared them brought dead.The deceased were identified as Nalabandha Iswar Rao (25) , his wife Nalbanda Sai (18), Kandipappu Bhagabatti (50), the mother of Sai and Kandipappu Rameya (16), the sister of Sai.All of them belonged to Anpadam of Vijaynagaram district in Andhra Pradesh. Rayagada police have registered a case and investigation is on.
