CB searches Energy and Forest offices

The Crime Branch (CB), which has been entrusted with the probe into the elephant electrocution deaths, conducted searches at Energy and Forest department offices on Monday.

BHUBANESWAR: The Crime Branch (CB), which has been entrusted with the probe into the elephant electrocution deaths, conducted searches at Energy and Forest department offices on Monday.

Searches were conducted at Meramandali JE office, SDO office in Chainpal and Executive Engineer Offices of CESU. Important documents, registers and correspondence in connection with the electrocution of the elephants were seized.

Searches at Dhenkanal DFO office, Range office and Section office were also carried out. Correspondence about the sagging of electricity line has been seized by the CB team while important documents like elephant movement register and intimation by Forest department to CESU authorities regarding the sagging of electric power cable were collected.

Examination of the forest squad members about their role and information collection and sharing mechanism with superior officials and other departments is also been carried out.Two DSPs led the search teams while Crime Branch SP Sandep Madkar is supervising the whole operation at the spot.
