BALASORE: After restricting mobile phones on the college campus, the authorities of Balasore’s Fakir Mohan Junior College have come up with another rule forbidding students below the age of 18 years from bringing their own vehicles to college from Monday.
The notice was issued on Saturday by the College principal Pradeep Kumar Rana. Speaking to TNIE, Rana informed that it was mandatory for all minor students according to the Motor Vehicle Act-1988 adding that if any student was seen disobeying the rule, their vehicle would be seized by the college authorities and strict disciplinary action will be taken against them.
“We are forced to make the rule because of increasing unruly behaviour by some students who often flee the campus after passing comments on teachers and students. Some of them even use bikes like Bullets and other motorcycles with customised silencer pipe to generate more noise,” said Rana.
The principal, however, added that students above 18 years would still be allowed to bring their own motorbikes to school and if their vehicles are found with silencer pipe, they should immediately remove it after submitting a joint undertaking along with their parents mentioning not to repeat the same in the future.
