Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik to ring BSE opening bell on Mumbai trip

BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is slated to ring the opening bell of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) during his three-day tour of Mumbai beginning on Tuesday.

He will visit the commercial capital of the country as part of an investors’ meet scheduled on September 14. This is the fourth investment roadshow after Dubai, Ahmedabad and New Delhi ahead of the third edition of the Make-in-Odisha Conclave from November 30 to December 4.

The CM will address potential investors invited from diverse sectors at the Mumbai roadshow. As part of the curtain raiser of the mega industrial carnival, he is also scheduled to meet industry leaders and business tycoons to apprise them of the conducive business environment in the State.

Official sources said the focus at the Mumbai meet will be on new industrial sectors and investors’ groups not yet present in Odisha. The target sectors for the event include banking, fintech, chemicals, renewable energy equipment, plastics and metal downstream.

As per schedule, the Chief Minister will arrive in Mumbai on September 13. After the one-to-one meeting with industry leaders at The Oberoi between 11 am and 1.30 pm the next day, he is slated to meet Chairman of Aditya Birla Group Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Vedanta Resources Ltd Anil Agarwal and Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra.

The investors’ meet will be held at Hotel Trident. Naveen is also scheduled to visit BSE at Dalal Street and attend the ceremony to ring the auspicious opening bell between 9 am and 9.30 am.

Principal Secretary of Industries department Hemant Sharma said the Mumbai roadshow will focus on new sectors that are yet to make their way into Odisha.

“We are expecting investments from diverse sectors during the next Make-in-Odisha conclave. Hopes are high on fintech, IT/ITeS, metal downstream and renewable energy equipment apart from chemicals, plastics and advanced electronic manufacturing,” he added.

Representatives from the industries will attend the roadshow along with their respective business associates to invite them to Odisha.
