CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) launched its political party, ‘Manithaneya Makkal Katchi’ (MMK), here on Saturday.
The reasons for founding a new party and the policies of the new outfit were outlined by several leaders of the TMMK, including its president Prof MH Jawahirullah and general secretary S Hyder Ali. “The MMK is being set up to fight for social justice of minorities, oppressed and tribal people,” Jawahirullah said. While the TMMK would continue to work in the social sphere for the welfare of the Muslim community, MMK would strive politically for the uplift of the oppressed people and the minorities by persuing honest politics, the leaders said.
