CHENNAI: A senior official of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has ruled out claims that CDs, an iPod, and laptops seized from ADGP M S Jaffar Sait’s house contained details of people involved in an alleged fraud to acquire residential plots from the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB).
The official said they are examining the documents seized during the raids on Tuesday at eight places.
These include the premises of Jaffar Sait, Durga Shankar, son of retired IAS official K Rajamanickam, who served as one of the secretaries to former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, and others.
ADSP S Subbaiyah has been appointed as investigating officer in the case.
Jaffar Sait is alleged to have entered into criminal conspiracy with some persons and got allotment of a Tamil Nadu Housing Board property in Thiruvanmiyur suppressing certain information.
Subsequently, Jaffer Sait entered into an agreement with a private construction firm for development of
the property thereby defrauding the Tamil Nadu Housing Board and deriving undue pecuniary advantage to himself.
