Pondy government cheating Karaikal people: MoS

Union Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office, V Narayanasamy, on Sunday urged Chief Minister N Rangasamy to take immediate steps to get Cauvery water for Karaikal region, to protect the standing crops.

Addressing a press conference here, he charged the Puducherry Chief Minister with “cheating” the people of Karaikal region on the Cauvery water issue, by failing to take steps to get Cauvery water for Karaikal region on pro-rata basis. Following the failure of the talks between the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka CMs, TN government approached Supreme Court. So far Rangasamy had not taken up the issue with Karnataka CM, he said, adding that Rangasmay had also failed  to discuss the issue with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister regarding Puducherry’s  due share for Karaikal, from the water received by Tamil Nadu.

There was a feeling among the people of the region that Karaikal had been  neglected by Rangasamy government and the stance of Rangasamy was a testimony to  this, he added.
