The Vellore Corporation has decided to collect toll fee from tourist vehicles at the Golden Temple at Ariyur, in Vellore.
A resolution in this regard was passed at the Corporation council meeting on Wednesday.
With tourists from across the globe coming to the Golden Temple in Ariyur, the local body has planned to collect toll fee from tourist vehicles plying on the roads that lead to Ariyur.
Vellore City Mayor P Kartiyayini said, “The Corporation has been planning several ways and means to increase revenue of the local body to carry out developmental activities in the city limit.” She also said the Corp would find out the number of vehicles plying on the roads to Ariyur, fix the toll fee and then call for the tender. Collection of toll fee would regulate the plying of vehicles to the temple. The plan would be implemented by next month, she added.
