In the run up to the local body elections, the collector ordered to close down all the cracker manufacturing units in Puducherry. Sources here said revenue officials have closed down all the cracker manufacturing units following orders from district collector S B Deepak Kumar.
Following the announcement of the civic polls, directions were given to all the cracker manufacturing units to close down till the elections were over. On Saturday, revenue official checked the compliance, took notes of the stock of the explosives and ensured that all the units were closed, said Deepak Kumar.
Meanwhile, a history sheeter was booked under Goondas Act in the wake of the polls. Police said Surutai Senthil,accused in three murder cases and another five cases, was booked under the act and lodged in the Central prison.
