Vivekananda birth anniversary celebrated

Governor K Rosaiah unveiled a statue of Swami Vivekananda at the Ramakrishna Math in Natrampalli as part of the three-day celebrations marking the 150th birth anniversary of the spiritual leader.

The Governor said that the Union Government had allotted `100 crore to the Ramakrishna Missions across the country to initiate special projects for the under-privileged, of which the Ramakrishna Math in Natrampalli near Jolarpet had received `10 lakh. He said that Swami Vivekananda had laid stress on youth development and hence, every year, his birthday on January 12 was celebrated as National Youth Day.
